Privacy policy

Last updated 2026-10-21

This policy covers the Ronin browser extension and the pages under /ronin on this site. The rest of thomastrudzinski.com is separate. These pages use Vercel Analytics for page counts (no cookies). The extension uses nothing of the kind.

What Ronin stores

Tab titles, URLs, site icons, notes, tags, and your settings. All of it sits in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local) on your machine. Nothing else is stored, anywhere. Only pages you choose to save are kept: Ronin does not read or store your browsing history.

What Ronin never does

  • No account, no sign-in, no sync service.
  • No analytics, no crash reports, no telemetry.
  • No server. The extension has no permission to reach the internet: its manifest declares no host permissions and no network sources, and Chrome enforces that.
  • The only way data leaves is a file you choose to export or back up.

Permissions, and what each is for

tabs
Read the titles and URLs of your open tabs, to show them and to save them.
storage, unlimitedStorage
Keep your settings and a library with no size cap, in this browser.
contextMenus
The right-click items "Save tab to Unsorted" and "Save window to Sessions".
favicon
Show site icons from Chrome's own cache, without fetching anything.

Two more are optional. Chrome asks you the first time the feature is used, and Ronin works without them.

tabGroups
Open a saved group as a Chrome tab group. Asked only when you use it.
bookmarks
Import your Chrome bookmarks. Asked only when you use it.
  • A saved link opens like any link when you click it. Ronin does not track that.
  • The backup folder uses the browser's own folder picker and writes only to the folder you choose.
  • If you use the support form, your email and message are sent to the developer by email through Resend, an email delivery service, and kept only to reply. Nothing is stored on this site.

Children

Ronin is not directed at children under 13 and collects nothing from anyone.

Terms of use

  1. Ronin is provided as is, free, with no warranty of any kind.
  2. Your library lives only in your browser. You are responsible for backups. Clearing browser data, uninstalling, or a browser fault can remove it, and there is no copy anywhere else to recover from. Export a copy or turn on the backup folder.
  3. To the extent the law allows, the developer isn't liable for lost data or for anything that results from using the extension or these pages.
  4. Ronin is independent: not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Google. Chrome is a trademark of Google LLC.
  5. Ronin saves links you choose. It isn't responsible for the content of those sites.
  6. The extension and these pages may change or be discontinued at any time.
